The Dorset School of Acting

Welcome to The Dorset School of Acting, a bright and fearless school offering both educational & vocational training in acting, musical theatre & theatre creation.

The school was founded by James Bowden (CEO) & Laura Roxburgh in 2007 to bring true, rigorous drama school training onto the South coast.  Both with backgrounds as professional actors in a hard industry, they were determined to bring true drama training to people of all ages.

Whilst engendering a disciplined work ethic, the philosophy of the school is to nurture and develop students’ talent whilst endeavoring to support their individual needs. It has now developed it’s own systematical approach to acting, “The Process” which is unique to the school and has been used across the globe by both amateur and professional actors.

Students from our courses have gone in to professional work both in theatre, television and film, gained places in actor’s agencies and across both our 1 year diploma and 2 year sixth form course, have been offered places at RADA, LAMDA, Royal Central, LIPA, ALRA, Rose Bruford, GSA, Italia Conti, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School & East 15.

The DSA has an exceptional faculty who teach across the school all with professional industry experience and is supported by patrons Dame Harriet Walter and Rachel Tucker.
